Egypt OPEX CHAPTER… THE FOUNDATION:  Following the successful launch of OPEX Egypt Chapter Conference * last October 2016 in Cairo, the group Founders decided to meet on a regular basis and set the road map for Egypt OPEX Chapter thus a meeting took place on Saturday 12th November and was attended by a group of experienced OPEX advocates, volunteering to promote best practices in all disciples of operations, engineering, human resources etc. They have come from different industries bringing real life stories of successful and challenging cases aiming for sharing best practices and learning from one another.  

 

Strategy of Egypt OPEX Chapter:

A Nonprofit chapter affiliated to Global OPEX Society, aiming to: building up capabilities of members; through networking, knowledge sharing and awareness transfer through adoption of a number of activities that would result in adding value to their business organizations, and serve local Egyptian market needs including knowledge transfers to technical syndicates, academic institutions and interested members.


 

THE WAY FORWARD

Egypt OPEX chapter as non profit chapter of OPEX Global Society, the key founders team agreed on at the following goals / activities:

1.       Share and exchange OPEX knowledge among group founders and increase their network through subscribing into the OPEX website and enjoy free access to the resources available as well as through holding regular monthly meetings where each will be responsible to deliver a real life OPEX lesson; either a failure or success story.

As a minimum a meeting will be held every 2nd Saturday of the month between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. except for the months where international OPEX conferences are set to take place

2. Enhance OPEX culture among their own companies, and where possible raise awareness of OPEX into related communities as Engineering Syndicates. OPEX Egypt Chapter will be concerned with addressing Egyptian Industrial OPEX challenges to serve the actual needs of its members and their related companies and communities. 3. Improve practices through arranging a yearly Supply Chain related conference in March and OPEX conference in October on annual basis.

 

N.B: All meetings and conferences will be based on voluntarily contributions from the Speakers and key founders to run them at the minimal cost possible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OPEX EGYPT CHAPTER ACTIVITIES

6 voluntarily meetings run with an average total no of attendees of 100, from all industrial sectors as Automotive, FMCG, Manufacturing etc.. The meetings discussed a no of hot topics as :

1) “ How to turn business around – Operations transformation in a deal environment by Mr. Ziad Anwar, M&A Strategy for PWC financial services,

2) The Big Data by   Dr. Amr Badr El Din from AUC, addressing “Internet of Things” .

3) “Budgeting in Turbulent Environment” by Eng. Ahmed Aref, Al Ahram Security Group. This is in addition to the Supply Chain Excellence Conference that was well organized and well received.

A No of successful Operational Excellence stories discussed as KAPCI and Bel Egypt robust Lean Deployment Projects presented by top management personnel and some hot topics as Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy by Eng. Shady Monsef, Plant Manager at Serioplast, and EFQM & its relationship with ISO 9001:2015 by Eng. Eng. Ahmed Shoukry; Operational Excellence Expert, certified Assessor from the University of King Abdel Aziz in KSA , Certified Lead Assessor for EFQM Excellence Model
